But, this is only part of the story. The Great Silk Road stretches for thousands of kilometers, leading caravans across scorching deserts, picturesque oases, and mountain passes. Along the way, cities and entire civilizations arose, flourished and devastated. Ancient cities along the Silk Road saw many destructive wars, conflagrations, hunger and pestilence. For centuries, multilingual oriental bazaars existed there, for hundreds of years merchants carried precious silks and stones, spices and dyes, gold and silver, exotic birds and animals for sale to Europeans..

The Great Silk Road is a grandiose trade route that connected East and West and became the reason for the emergence of many unique cities, historical monuments, customs and even states.
